Wow. Your sofa is bigger than our living room and kitchen combined… πŸ™ And I'm not even joking. πŸ™ I am genuinely telling you that your living room is bigger than our tiny flat. πŸ™

Love the DIYs and re-purposing of furniture but it's all just grey and white and not even a single splash of colour, which was slightly disappointing

I just moved into my apartment it has baby blue walls and white trim. I have a black sleek modern couch with other sleek black furniture. What paint colours would work with dark furniture. My apartment is kinda older it has grates and high ceilings. I would like to have an office space/living room/work out space. Do you have any ideas on how to accomplish this!?

Sharrah, do you have any ideas as to what to do with an extra long living room w/o quirky room design? My living room opens from the foyer on the right side of the room (facing the room from the foyer). Not sure if it helps or not but we have a roll-top desk that was my MIL's against the wall centered on the right-side. The room spreads out more length then width. There is also a huge fireplace on the opposite wall from the foyer door frame. The fireplace, well that wall completely, is strangely designed. The fireplace takes up about 1/3rd of the outer wall b/c of the brickwork. The hearth is nice too. (I can't recall the brick to brick measurements but I can say the brick does go floor to ceiling & the widest part of the firebox, which is in the back, is 41in. I remember this b/c we hope to one day get gas logs for it but can't afford it right now. Oh, the brick does go from floor to ceiling) The windows, which are on each side of the fireplace, aren't even with the fireplace. They're offset. We have a roll-top desk on the foyer side of the room against the end-side of the room w/a recliner on 1 side & rocking chair on the other. Since the room is so long, I want to place the furniture in more of a free-floating manner vs against a wall, but I keep stumbling over the windows not being centered to anything & the far left side is a door to the laundry room & immediately in the laundry room, is the door to the spa room complete w/ceiling exhaust. The window in that room is also free-moving so the top sash can be pulled down or bottom pushed up or they can be pulled to meet in the middle, if you will. I'm at a serious loss as to how to decorate this room & arrange the furniture. (any ideas on DIY couches? Mine is some 22yrs old. I think a spring might be worn b/c sitting on the couch when I pull my knees & feet up on the most sat side. can't really afford a new couch right now either) I do keep throws on every piece of furniture in the room b/c it's not easy to heat this room. And yes, I must admit to being a tightwad with 1 BIL & best friend who understand the sanity of pulling a throw to cover feet & legs is much more cost-effective than running the heat higher, esp with the cost of propane on top of electric to blow the warm air inside. Hubby says I'd pinch a penny til it squeals. The BIL & best friend are where I find my camaraderie to beat back my hubby's thinking & bringing him around to see the more frugal approach. LOL! What the heck can I put over the mantle & onto the brick? Right now it has a photo of our youngest daughter in her cap & gown in high school. We hope to be replacing or adding to the framed photos w/her graduating from college & adding that cap & gown photo. I'd like something more decorate. Warm earth tone colors. The foyer, hallway, living room, & front bath room, along w/the 3rd bedroom is now an office but all have matching shades of taupe colors for the walls & darker colors for the trim. Any ideas will be appreciated. The room doesn't have a television; in fact, we don't have a television. My husband has an iPad & I have my notebook)

I dislike the lamps in front of the window where the natural light is coming in but those lamps are nice and I do see them a lot in target.

I love the airy white curtains. very classic, but I agree with Jay about the floor lamps. maybe too much of a good thing. a bit too fussy. stick with – classic. Love the sectional sofa, not in love with the huge graphic clock which is just too trendy (for my taste )and dates the apt. Also, I think a huge accessory like that lacks YOUR personality, which is the great thing about accessories, adding your own personality. fun video :)) and thanks for sharing πŸ™‚

The lamps look out of place, you have a light in front of light. The curtains give balance ditch the lamps or move elsewhere.
