Survival, Maybe… #24 Interior Design (Survival with tips & tricks thrown in)

The wobbly elevator gets some much needed love, followed by a complete makeover of the main corridor – now including plants!

The link for the elevator music mod is here: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1295525585

For the start scenario I’ve used head here:

For the full mod list head here:

For the Earth-like planet without uranium head here:
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1105967009

The earth-like planet has been modified to remove all underground uranium, the nearby pirate bases have all been made a little bit more secretive and dangerous and we don’t have anything that flies. Welcome to a challenging little scenario!

This series will be an extended look at trying to develop the vehicles necessary to survive and then to take down a pirate base. It will be running alongside my usual tutorial and testing videos. I intend for new episodes to be released every Wednesday.

I’m keen to get your input on things that might help me survive and improve my craft though at this stage I’m not planning on adding any more mods to the scenario, at least until the pirate base is taken care of.

As always, don’t forget to enjoy this awesome (if at times buggy) game!

Hey Splitsie. Love your videos. If you want to get a more realistic effect over your lights (as much as can be sort in SE) check out this colour temperature to RGB converter: https://academo.org/demos/colour-temperature-relationship/

I'm not sure this qualifies as 'survival' anymore. It's a nice touch putting in elevator muzak, but surviving elevator muzak in a sky scraper is still in a sky scraper (even when it's underground)

It really is amazing, you well deserve the title 'Master Builder Extraordinaire', even with that med-bay fiasco. 😉

Put a 1 sec or .5 sec delay on the elevator timer. It drives me mad seeing it start moving before you're inside.

Late to the party watching this one, but I do have to say I always like your building style.. However you blew me away once you finished that hallway, thought that it wouldn't look that good but once you welded it all up. Wow.

Totally got to steal that roof design to use in my base!

How about placing lights behind catwalks? And maybe changing theirs colours to red or blue ?

6:00 You could have dragged the ice directly to the container after turning off the auto-pull.(Use Conveyor System). 6:20 Never-mind.
12:45 I would use the cover blocks there to block off the view. They're cheaper and allow more standing room on the front.
14:10 Or you could lower the lift; rocks "magically" move out of the way.(or put the sensor under the carriage)
16:30 Sensor also needs Show on HUD turned on to see the field. The antenna on your docked ships should do the trick.
29:00 The double corner lights would work well here. There's a new field[offset] that manipulates the distance from the block that the light starts.
41:45 Hallway looks grate. Excellent aesthetic.
43:30 Increase the offset to 2.0; the ceiling will be darker, but the floor will brighten and not drown the windows.

Question is: how are you going to get in when you and the elevator are on different floors?
    Answer: use buttons.
Set it up like this: add doors for the two floors, add 3 more timers, and buttons on both floors(garage and main base) and the elevator.timer down( piston extent, sound block play, doors closed, timer 2 start)Timer 2(sound block stop, elevator door open, outer door for F1 open.)Timer up( piston retract, sound block play, doors closed, timer 4 start)Timer 4(sound block stop, elevator door open, outer door for F2 open.)

Hello! Bit of a challenge for you. Can you make a drone that can dock with a mobile base no matter where it is? Thanks.

Nice creativity with the modded blocks and catwalks in the corridor. Elevator music, hilarious!
Could have the lights in the elevator shaft change gradually as you descend to the hanger to a colour that contrasts with the cleaner style and purpose of the upper floor.

Really awesome elevator! Quick suggestion: use the "Start" option for the timer block and not "Trigger now". That way the lift will not start as soon as you enter, but waits 1s. That would feel more realistic in my opinion.
